Horse food

The healthier your horse eats, the better it will perform. Carrots must form part of the horse food to ensure good eyesight. Apples should also be included in the diet not only because the horse will love you more, but also to ensure enough vitamins in the diet.

The horse should get a mixture of horse food pellets, hay, free pasture grazing and grains as well as essential oils. Oats should also form part of the diet and cod liver oil must be mixed in with the horse food to ensure a healthy coat and balance in the body.

Like most of the animals, horses require salt licks for rejuvenation. Beetroot and turnips are excellent for energy provision.

Selecting the right amount of horse food is difficult. Large horses need more hay than smaller horses. See if you cannot find a well written guide based on the height, type of horse and the purpose.
