Horse
caring tips
We
provide a few horse caring tips below. Please also
follow our links on the right side of this page which provide
details on caring for your horse.
Your
horse doesn't need a fancy stall, but it needs one that is
safe and provides shelter against rain and weather elements.
The
basic needs of a horse or pony should be addressed. These
include:
- Enough
pasture to graze in.
- There
should be no holes or rusty wires in the pasture.
- Walk
through the pasture once a month to make sure it is safe
for the horse or pony.
- The
pasture must have safe fences such as wooden poles or mesh
wires.
- In
addition the pasture quality must be the same as good quality
pellets or hay.
- The
horse must have plenty of fresh water daily.
- Supply
enough minerals and salt as part of the diet.
- Provide
shade during the summer months.
- Provide
a shelter during rain and winter months.
- The
horse stable must have a clean area where the horse can
lie down.
- Always
check your horse for injuries before you ride or when you
clean the stable.
- Horses
need companions so make sure that it is not alone by giving
it another horse, goat or suitable animal as companion.
Caring
for your horse is fun. It builds a relationship and if you
take good care of the horse, he will become your best companion.
